Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares end partnership with disappointing RG loss
Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares' partnership has come to an end with a disappointing French Open first round exit as the second-seeded duo were beaten by Italy's Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Sonego 4-6 7-5 7-6 7-6 (4).
Great Britain's Murray and Brazilian Soares failed to serve out for the opener in the ninth game but still claimed the first set as they broke the Italian duo in the following game.
Berrettini, 23, and 24-year-old Sonego broke the second seeds in the 11th game of the second set before they served out for the set in the following game after saving a break point.
As no breaks were seen in the decider -- the set went into a tie-break -- where the Italians converted their second match to complete a big comeback in two hours and 10 minutes of play.
On Monday, 37-year-old Soares confirmed to Brazilian media that he and 33-year-old Murray would split after the French Open.
The two conclude their partnership with 10 titles won together -- with the two biggest titles coming in their first season as a pair in 2016 -- which they claimed at the Australian Open and US Open.
Soares' new partner will be 2018 Australian Open champion Mate Pavic, while Murray will be sharing the same side of the net with fellow Briton Neal Skupski.
