Juan Martin del Potro praises Felix Auger-Aliassime
World No. 9 Juan Martin Del Potro has praised rising Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime, saying the 18-year-old has a "strong game."
Auger-Aliassime had a great week in Lyon but still fell just short of winning it all and claiming his maiden ATP title.
The Canadian survived clinched three hard-fought wins over John Millman, Steve Johnson and Nikoloz Basilashvili respectively, before losing to home favourite Benoit Paire in the final.
Earlier this season, Auger-Aliassime ended runner-up in Rio de Janeiro and made the Miami Masters semi-final as a qualifier.
Auger-Aliassime, who is already enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 28 in the world, is set to rise to his new career-high ranking of No. 22 when the list gets updated on Monday.
"He (Auger-Aliassime) is playing great. He plays a strong game and has all the shots and he is getting better and better every tournament," del Potro said.
Del Potro and Auger-Aliassime have no previous meetings but that could soon change if they meet in the French Open third round.
The Argentinian is due to open his campaign at Roland Garros against in-form Chilean Nicolas Jarry.
On the other side, Auger-Aliassime will be clashing against Australian Jordan Thompson in the French Open first round.
