Kyrgios before training with Murray:French Open sucks compared to Wimbledon

Nick Kyrgios used shameful words to describe the historic Roland Garros just before a training session with Andy Murray.

Kyrgios paid a visit to the Wimbledon complex where he had a hitting session with the double Wimbledon champion. The Australian was admiring the grass courts when he reminded that the French Open is only a week away. Then, he exposed his unwillingness to go to Paris in a very characteristic way: “The fact that I am here right now and I have to go to Paris in a couple of days… French Open sucks compared to this place.”

Considering his poor performance on clay and the negative experience in Rome, there’s absolutely no surprise in him not being keen to play at Roland Garros, but this does not excuse his disgraceful words. After Kyrgios missed the French Open last year due to an elbow injury, he seems up for another short trip in Paris. Take a look at his comments above and compare them to his tweet from last year:  “Unfortunately I have to withdraw from this year’s French Open. I’ve worked hard to be ready and desperately wanted to play Roland Garros, which is very special to me but I literally ran out of time.”

However, we could see that Kyrgios misses grass courts: “This is the best tournament in the world (Wimbledon). Look at this. Who likes the clay?” The Australian’s last grass season involved two semifinals - at Stuttgart and London -, and a third round run at Wimbledon where he got crushed by Nishikori in straight sets.
