One day there will be a player equivalent to Federer, Nadal - Forget

In an interview to Europe 1, the French Open Tournament Director Guy Forget commented on the future of tennis once Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic retire from the professional sport. "I think there will be an amazing player who has that one more thing inside, like Mozart, Pele or Zidane could have in football," said Forget. "What is the common point between the Serb, Swiss and Spaniard? You cannot say that there are methods in those countries to produce this kind of players. A man is not a machine we schedule, and who will win all the Grand Slam titles, I think one day we will have a player who may be equivalent to Nadal or Federer and who will bring two or three more immense champions.

At the same time, the players who hold the biggest amount of Grand Slams are competing: Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Those three guys have shared the 95 percent of Grand Slam titles for 15 years. Now our current generation is an amazing one. When we look at the career highs of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gael Monfils, Richard Gasquet, Gilles Simon and even Lucas Pouille, we realize that they are players who were on the top ten for several years. Making a comparison with footballer, there are players like Griezmann, Mbappé, Pogba ... They are not Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo but they are among the best players in the world."

Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will be seeded first, second and third respectively at the 2019 French Open. Nadal is the defending champion.
