Rafael Nadal was impressive in Rome, he is French Open favorite - Grosjean
In an interview, the former world No. 4 Sebastien Grosjean commented on the top French Open candidates. France's Davis Cup team captain said: "For me, Rafa Nadal is the No. 1 favourite in the tournament. He was impressive for the entire week in Rome even if he lost one set to Novak in the final. He could have won in two sets. It seems it's a bit like last year with Novak Djokovic and also Dominic Thiem who played very well in Barcelona."
Grosjean added: "I am happy to see Roger again in the French Open. I found him pretty good in Madrid and Rome, his two tournaments prior to that. He always tries to be aggressive enough, even if it's tougher on clay than on hard. He feels his game on clay, he has won here (in 2009) and he played several finals. If Rafa was not there, he would have won more titles (laughter). You will have to see how he evolves during matches."
Can we expect surprises from the younger guys? "Stefanos Tsitsipas can be an outsider. He had a nice season, he was impressive on hard and clay. He is young who has a personality and a good game: it's nice to see a player with such a potential being already on the top 8."
What can we expect from the Frenchmen? "It's tougher when you are not a seed. We can have good upsets. I like Lucas's draw and we will see until what point he can be brought. Gael often played well here."
