Alexander Zverev ready and prepared for tough Novak Djokovic challenge

German tennis star Alexander Zverev was satisfied with his French Open round-of-16 performance as the fifth seed performed well to beat Monte Carlo Masters champion Fabio Fognini 3-6 6-2 6-2 7-6 (5).

After only one straight-set win and two five-set wins, which featured lots of struggling, world No. 5 Zverev came up big when needed most to beat a tough opponent and set up a huge quarter-final clash against No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic.

“Everything in my life is actually pretty good. So, there’s nothing major to worry about. Obviously, on the tennis court I wasn’t playing my best, I wasn’t being aggressive, I wasn’t being myself a little bit so that changed a little bit. Today you saw the break points I had I kind of won them on an aggressive way,” Zverev said when asked about the things that give him positive mindset.

Zverev’s 2018 French Open campaign ended on an unfortunate way as, due to a hamstring injury, the German couldn’t perform at his best during his quarter-final clash against Dominic Thiem, who won the match 6-4 6-2 6-1.

“Hopefully, I can get another chance to play a great match here. Obviously, last year’s quarter-final was very unfortunate to me, sad, the ending with an injury. But hopefully this year it will be different and it will be a great match,” Zverev added.

Zverev expects a great match against Djokovic as the head-to-head record between the two stands at 2-2.

“I just wish that it’s gonna be a great match, that it’s gonna be a tough battle and that especially against Novak, the world No. 1, it’s gonna be interesting,” Zverev insisted.
