Coach Ljubicic shares big regrets about Roger Federer's loss to Djokovic

Last week, the former world No. 3 Ivan Ljubicic was in the Umag Open as a spectator and Borna Coric's agent. Interviewed by local reporters, Ljubicic analyzed Roger Federer's Wimbledon final loss to Novak Djokovic. Ljubicic, who has been coaching the Swiss since 2015, did not hide his disappointment. "He has won 14 points more, which is three games and a half. It's not small, but there are no rules in tennis. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Roger was the best player on court but he did not understand it. We keep forward. It's just a game and your life does not change because of a final."

Many people described it as the best match ever. "For me, no matches will have the same emotions as the 2017 Australian Open final between Roger and Rafael Nadal. How much credit should be given to Ljubicic for Federer's longevity? "I cannot say it. For me, he is still the best player in the world. I am happy and proud that he is still the same guy as before at 38 years of age."

Djokovic's friend and former coach Mario Ancic, who is from Croatia as well as Ljubicic, was sitting in Serb's box during the Wimbledon final. "He was very close to me but once the match started, I only see the court and Roger. If I am not wrong, Mario was there only for a set, he had to go to the airport and work."
