Federer is impressive, but I don't go against Djokovic in Wimbledon: Becker

The six-time Major winner Boris Becker believes that Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are the top favorites in Wimbledon. The German former champion, in a column on Daily Mail, said: "I am reluctant to go against the defending champion but Roger is playing so well — forget about his past, he has just been so impressive this year and playing the clay looks to have set him up physically. Of course, Rafael Nadal is not far behind and he could so easily be back here as defending champion. His potentially huge second round match against Nick Kyrgios is something everyone wants to see and he has a more difficult first week."

Speaking of the younger players, Becker added: "After what he has done this year, including at Queen’s, I guess plenty of people are hearing about Canada’s 18-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime. I just call him Felix AA. I really like his game — there is nothing you look at and think ‘he really has to improve on this or that’. Someone very few people are talking about is Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, the 23-year-old world No 20."

Reflecting on the women's side, he concluded: "I loved seeing Ash Barty win the French Open. It is not easy to single out anyone, but she won in Birmingham, which suggests there is no hangover from Paris."
