Rafael Nadal: Federer, Djokovic and I had to evolve to keep dominating

In an interview to SN, Rafael Nadal shared reasons behind the Big Three's dominance. The Spanish player admitted he turned into a more aggressive player over the years. "This change did not happen over a day or a year," he said. "It was logical progress. My legs are not the same as 2005 when I won my maiden French Open title. The same thing for the movement. It's the only way to stay competitive. Federer, Djokovic and me - everyone had the desire to stay to the top. In order to make it happen, we had to keep evolving."

Asked how long he sees himself competing, Nadal replied: "If my body says I can no longer make it and I am not able to play big matches again, then it's a sign to stop. The fire and passion for sports in general and for tennis, in particular, are still inside me. That makes me keep playing and inspires me to keep fighting. My life goes much beyond tennis. Tennis is definitely a part of it but is not the most important. There are many things that make me happy. For example, spending time with my friends. Between the French Open and Wimbledon, I took some days off."

On Mallorca reaching the Spanish Liga again, Nadal concluded: "I am a big football fan and I am really happy that Mallorca is back on the first league. But I stay a big Real Madrid fan. Now I have to support both teams," said the 33-year-old.
