Rafael Nadal will win Wimbledon, says Croft
Speaking on BBC the TV presenter Annabel Croft gave her Wimbledon predictions. The Brit indicated Rafael Nadal as the main favorite. "He's my pick for the title this year. And I'm slightly going against most of the people's thoughts who are perhaps going with Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic, who we all forget has won it four times", said Croft. "He gave me one of the best matches I have ever witnessed at Wimbledon against Del Potro. It was just an astonishing level of play for those five sets and he managed to get through that. Then that match against Djokovic. I think we cannot underestimate the hunger that he's got to try and chase down Roger Federer. And the confidence he brings in from that 12th French Open title means he is certainly not one to unestimated. But he is in a very tough section of the draw. If he gets through the first few rounds, I'd watch out for Rafa."
World no. 2 and third seed Nadal won his first round against Japan's Yuichi Sugita who qualified for the main draw on Tuesday. Nadal won 6-3, 6-1, 6-3 after trailing Sugita 0-2 in the first set. The two-time former champion at Wimbledon will face the world no. 43 Nick Kyrgios in the second round. Kyrgios defeated fellow Australian Jordan Thompson 7-6, 3-6, 7-6, 0-6, 6-1 in the first round on Tuesday as well.
