In an interview to Metro News the former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki commented on how it will feel to play the Greenbrier Tennis Classic in September against Maria Sharapova. The Dane said: "I have never been there so I am really excited to go."
On her feelings heading into the US Open, Wozniacki added: "I am feeling good right now, I am feeling healthy, getting ready for the US Open. So right now everything is good. I am enjoying my time in New York. I love the atmosphere, I love the buzz, it has the biggest tennis stadium so it's always fun. The game is in a great state now. Back in the day, not many players are having a chance to win the big trophies. People are taking care of their bodies so they extend their careers."
On tennis in general, she added: "We competitors just want to play our best tennis, fight, we want to try to win and we hope the crowd is having a great time. We are very competitive, we just want to go out there and play."
On Cori Gauff, Wozniacki concluded: "It's always great to see young players coming up, going forward and really playing at such a high level. She has got a lot of potential, she has a bit of pressure but she is such a strong personality. It's great to see that tennis has a future and that youngsters are making their way. So it's exciting."
