Dusan Lajovic reacts to Novak Djokovic's decision to play Davis Cup Finals
Serbia's Dusan Lajovic says it is great to have world No. 1 Novak Djokovic available for the Davis Cup Finals as their chances of winning it all have now increased.
On Monday, Serbian Davis Cup Team Captain Nenad Zimonjic announced that Djokovic has changed his mind and that he intends to represent his country at the inaugural Davis Cup Finals event from November 18-24.
Lajovic is happy to see that Djokovic is willing to represent his country but admits he is concerned that a short offseason break -- after a long and successful 2019 campaign -- may negatively impact the 32-year-old's preparation for the next season.
"It's great for us but from Novak's perspective I'm not sure since the season is long and there are only four weeks of break between the Davis Cup and ATP Cup. The schedule is very tight but our chances for a deeper run immediately increase," Lajovic exclusively told Sport Klub after his US Open first round win over Belgian Steve Darcis.
