I would have liked Andreescu to play full match against Williams - Coach

Speaking to Le Journal de Montreal, Bianca Andreescu's coach Sylvain Bruneau commented on Canadian player's Rogers Cup title in Toronto. Andreescu won the championship clash against Serena Williams, who retired being 3-1 down in the first set. "Honestly, it's a bit surprising. I would say it's amazing when you look at her progresses. She already won two big titles even if this year she dealt with injuries. She was out for many weeks. She came back and won the Rogers Cup despite she had not prepared that much. There was also the pressure of playing at home. Sometimes it can be an advantage, but also a disadvantage. It's amazing what she just did", said Bruneau.

"Bianca had mixed feelings after the match", added Bruneau. "Before the match she told me that she had unbelievable feelings in the Indian Wells final. She had beaten Angelique Kerber in the final after more than two hours, 6-4 in the third. She expected big things playing at home in Toronto against Serena. It was different, she only played some games (four). The feeling is not the same one when your opponent retires. Even I was disappointed when I saw that Serena was sitting on the bench while it was 3-1 in the first set. I hoped she would ask the physioterapist. I thought it was strange it happened before a changeover. I felt Bianca was ready to play a real match and I believed in her chances to defeat Serena. I am happy with the win, but I would have liked to see her play a full match. There is no limit to her potential and ranking position. Bianca could crack top ten rankings, top five and could even become No. 1. She can make it."
