Wimbledon loss to Novak Djokovic still hurts Roger Federer, says Ivanisevic
In an interview to The New York Times Novak Djokovic's co-coach Goran Ivanisevic commented on Roger Federer's five-set loss to Novak Djokovic in Wimbledon. According to the Croat, the Swiss is yet to recover from this disappointment. “It has to hurt; it has to still hurt. There’s no way it can’t. When you win that kind of match the way Novak won it at Wimbledon, it gives you confidence to the roof", said Ivanisevic.
Paul Annacone, who worked as Federer's coach from 2010 to 2013, said: “I’ve never met anyone who does a better job of finding the balance of appreciating things when they win and moving on or when stuff like Wimbledon happens of letting it go and moving on."
On Federer wasting match points in both 2010 and 2011 US Open semifinals against Novak Djokovic, Annacone added: “I was like, how does that happen two years in a row? It was incredible to even imagine it, and so when it happened at Wimbledon, I literally couldn’t believe it.”
Speaking about the favorites on the women's side, Daniela Hantuchova said: "You must never write Serena off but all the pressure she will be under will be tricky. The one I really love at the moment is Madison Keys. She won in Cincinnati and she has been here in the final before, she knows what it takes to go deep in these tournaments. The balls fly a lot so it is going to favour the more aggressive players so I think she has got a good chance. She is very aggressive and has a great serve so if she keeps up her form from Cincinnati it is going to be interesting to see what happens with her."
