Roger Federer: 'I respect Rafael Nadal, his family and friends'
What does Rafael Nadal represent for Roger Federer? The Swiss answered this question in an interview to RTS. The world No. 3 said: "He is a rival and a friend. We understand each other really well, we have a lot of respect, I think, one another. Two years ago in Prague the Laver Cup showed us even more how similar we are, but we still stay different. We can love each other but in the same time the rivalry will stay there and the respect is just enormous. I have respect for him, his family and friends. And what he achieved is just unbelievable."
They will play an exhibition match in Cape Town in February 2020 in front of 48,000 people. "It will be great, I did not do those things with many other players, so Rafa is a special person in my life or still as a player."
Meanwhile analyzing his triumph at the Chengdu Open, Pablo Carreno Busta said: "It was an incredible week here in Chengdu. It was a pleasure for me to be back here. During the week, I felt really comfortable on court. The surface is very fast but it was good with my serve during my matches and that’s the key to my win."
On the tough season he went through, Carreno Busta added: "We practice a lot of hours a week. It was very tough for me because of the injuries at the beggining of the year. I was 4 or 5 months out. It was really tough when you cannot play and enjoy this sports. But I just try to continue working hard cause I know that when you work and do as much as possible. Now I am here, with my trophy, winning my fourth ATP title. For me, this is the reason to conitnue fighting and to continue playing the sport."
