Serena Williams is intimidating, she has a mental edge - Kuznetsova

In an interview with Eurosport, Svetlana Kuznetsova spoke about Serena Williams' personality on the court.

The Russian player said: "At 16 years of age, I played with Arantxa Sanchez. And I saw in the second round we are facing Serena and Martina Navratilova. We won that match but I was so afraid, Serena is so intimidating, it's part of the process. So when they go play Serena, half of the match is already lost earlier. She knows it and she takes advantage of it mentally. I remember with Serena we started speaking normally in the end of the event when everything was finished. We hung out together for two nights. When Serena loses, she does not speak to you for some time. At Wimbledon, I did an interview and I said something about the Catwoman kit she wore at the French Open. I said nobody can wear it but Serena can. If she deserves it, they make an exception for Serena. But journalists misunderstood everything. I did that interview six months ago, then I check Twitter, SerenaArmy wrote it... I have not been meeting Serena since that moment. She came to Wimbledon in the locker room. I told her the truth, she said she saw my post and told me not to get worried about it, everything okay. We spoke in a normal way each other."

Kuznetsova and Serena have faced each other 13 times on Tour with the American prevailing in ten matches. Kuznetsova last beat Williams at the 2016 Miami Open.
