Roger Federer stands alone on the list of players with most..

After losing to Andre Agassi and Tim Henman in 1998 and 1999, Roger Federer finally found the rhythm at home ATP event in Basel, reaching back-to-back finals that he lost to Thomas Enqvist and Tim Henman. Half a decade later, Roger started his reign in the home town, winning the title in 2006 and never losing before the final ever since, standing on the Open era record of 15 title matches at a single ATP tournament. Federer had to win three matches to advance into the 15th final at the Swiss Indoors, kicking off the 19th campaign with a 6-2, 6-1 win over a qualifier Peter Gojowczyk in 52 minutes, losing serve once and delivering five breaks to march into the second round. There, Radu Albot stayed on the court for ten more minutes, only to suffer a 6-0, 6-3 loss as he couldn't do much on both serve and return, propelling Roger into the quarters. Instead of another clash with the compatriot Stan Wawrinka, Roger received a walkover as Stan suffered a back injury against Frances Tiafoe, setting the semi-final clash with the 3rd seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Greek had already beaten Roger in 2019 but stood no chance here in Basel, losing 6-4, 6-4 after two breaks he suffered, creating only one opportunity on the return in the last game of the match that Roger fended off to seal the deal and earn another record that will take some beating from Nadal and others in the years to come.
