Novak Djokovic to start new season at Mubadala World Tennis Championship

Serbian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic has signed up to play the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, the tournament announced. 

The 32-year-old is set to make his sixth appearance at the Abu Dhabi exhibition. 

The Serb has had lots of success throughout his career in Abu Dhabi, having won the exhibition event four times. 

Djokovic returned to the event last for the first time since 2015 and won the title after beating Kevin Anderson in the final. 

"Abu Dhabi is a special place and one where I have tasted success consistently. The courts are great, the spectators know their sport, and the atmosphere is thoroughly enjoyable,” Djokovic said following the announcement.

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal and fourth-ranked Daniil Medvedev will also be competing in Abu Dhabi from December 19-21. 

“The lineup for the tournament is really strong. You always want to play challenging opponents early in the season in order to get a good measure of yourself and I am hoping I can put in place a few things that I have been working on in the off-season," Djokovic added.
