Announcement of Roger Federer's commerative coin crashes Swissmint website

Swissmint CEO Marius Haldimann spoke about the commemorative coin in honor of Roger Federer. Haldimann said: “We had 2.5 million clicks. It was too much for the shop to handle. We expected and planned for high demand, but we never imagined it would be this big. When Roger posted a link on his social media channels the website immediately had problems due to all the traffic. Some fans could access the shop but could not finish the order. Others could not get onto the website. We have had a lot of fans emailing us asking if they can buy the coin, but we can’t take credit card details via email. We are just asking fans to be patient and keep trying the website. We are working hard to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.”

Federer became the first living Swiss person to have a coin minted in his honor. A 50 CHF gold coin bearing Federer's image is also going to be minted. 

In an interview with the Baseline Podcast on Tennis.com, Roger Federer's former coach Paul Annacone spoke about the hard work ethics a tennis player needs to have. Annacone said: "You better believe in what you're trying to do and the way that you’re trying to deliver it. Time and time again that philosophy has rung true in my mind because I’ve seen the greats do it. You can't teach the natural talent of a Federer, but you can teach the habits that he has around himself that have allowed that talent to blossom."
