Goran Ivanisevic reveals Novak Djokovic's important changes

Despite winning two Majors and two Masters 1000 titles, Novak Djokovic failed to finish the season at the top for the sixth time, failing to pass Rafael Nadal at the ATP Finals. Despite the late charge in Tokyo and Paris, Novak couldn't pass the Spaniard after losing to Roger Federer in the last round-robin clash in London, missing a chance to play in the semi-final and add more points to his tally and wrapping up the year ranked second. The Serb is eager and motivated to regain the throne as soon as possible, entering three tournaments in January and hoping to mount the pressure on Nadal.

Novak and Rafa will compete at the Mubadala Tennis Championship together and the Serb will start his preparations in Monte Carlo on December 9, traveling to Abu Dhabi with Goran Ivanisevic on December 16. The Croat will stay with Novak until Christmas when Marian Vajda steps in, working with Novak during the Australian swing at the ATP Cup, Adelaide and Melbourne. Goran and Vajda will split Majors in 2020, with the Croat who will follow Novak in London and New York and Marian who is in charge in Melbourne and Paris.

"Novak will start his preparations on December 9 in Monte Carlo, then we are heading to Abu Dhabi on December 16 for Mubadala World Tennis Championship and I will stay with him until Christmas. Then, Marian Vajda will take charge, traveling with Novak to Australia for the ATP Cup, Adelaide and the Australian Open. Novak wanted to have one coach at the biggest tournaments and I think that's the right decision. We all have huge expectations, it is always like that when you work with someone like Novak, only titles are good enough. Finishing the season ranked second, Djokovic will fight even stronger in 2020 to regain the throne. We are usually relaxed before the matches, watching funny clips and laughing, with all that changing in a second once he steps on the court. I have never seen his level of concentration."
