Novak Djokovic: Roger Federer showed why he is one of best players of all time

World No. 2 Novak Djokovic praised the greatness of Roger Federer after the 38-year-old Swiss saved a total of seven points in his Australian Open quarterfinal clash. 

Federer, seeded at No. 3, was on the verge of picking up a shock defeat but he used all of his knowledge and experience to fight back and a claim a 6-3 2-6 2-6 7-6 (8) 6-3 win over Tennys Sandgren. 

Sandgren, who was aiming to make his maiden Grand Slam semifinal, had three match points in the 10th game of the fourth set and four more in the tie-break. 

In the match that followed, record seven-time Australian Open champion Djokovic saw off Milos Raonic 6-4 6-3 7-6 (1) to book a semifinal meeting against Federer.

"He (Federer) showed why he’s one of the best players of all time. He never gives up and when it matters the most he is focused and plays his best tennis," Djokovic told reporters after his win over Raonic, per Metro UK.

"Tennys had his chances but credit to Roger, it’s amazing that he managed to come back."
