Piotr Wozniacki Hopes Relationship with Media Would Cool After Caroline's Retirement

Piotr Wozniacki, the father of former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, says he hopes that with his daughter's retirement, the hatchet between the critics and himself would come to an end.

The Wozniackis have faced a lot of criticism over the years, especially in the Danish media and he hopes that the same would stop now. 

Speaking to TV2, Piotr says, "I just want to say thank you to everyone today, and to all those who were critical of my side and Caroline, I would like to say a thousand thanks for helping us at some point. I hope we can meet again in May in Copenhagen and have a cup of Carlsberg (referring to the exhibition match between Wozniacki and Serena Williams in May)."

Piotr was also not happy with the recent announcement that Clara Tauson was named as the Danish Player of the Year.  "To me, it's just a provocation. 100 percent. They do not have respect for the people who have made the whole world talk about Danish tennis."

Speaking about himself after Wozniacki's career has come to an end, Piotr says, "When you look at me today, you can see that I have changed clothes in relation to my workout suit. As of today, I am the father. I am very proud. It is not up for discussion. But again, I think I'm a little different. My character is a little different. I think I need to spend a little more time feeling what everyone else might feel right away. Because we are different people."
