Roger Federer hopes to be at 100 percent against Novak Djokovic
World No. 3 Roger Federer hopes he won't be hampered by a groin injury in his Australian Open semifinal clash as he is knows he will have to be at his best in order to stand a chance against Novak Djokovic.
Federer, seeded at No. 3, scraped past world No. 100 Tennys Sandgren in the Australian Open quarterfinal as he saved a total of seven match points before claiming a 6-3 2-6 2-6 7-6 (8) 6-3 win over the American.
In the match that followed, record seven-time Australian Open champion Djokovic saw off former world No. 3 Milos Raonic 6-4 6-3 7-6 (1) to book a blockbuster semifinal against Federer.
"It’s great to see MIlos back playing super well. That was nice work so far. It’s nice to remind everyone he belongs up in the rankings. Novak obviously is a champ, he loves to play here, especially in Australia," Federer told reporters in his press conference, per Metro UK.
"We’ve had some epic matches in the past. Regardless of who I play, I know it’s going to be very difficult and I hope I feel better than today otherwise I am actually really going to be skiing (back home in Switzerland)."
