Roger Federer pokes fun at his GQ Most Stylish Man of the Decade award

Roger Federer was recently awarded the GQ Most Stylish Man of the Decade award. In a round of 16 draw, the Swiss bypassed singers and actors A$AP Rocky, Jonah Hill, Harry Styles and Timothee Chalamet to claim the prize. However, it is not wrong to say that his fans “gifted” him the award as the winner of each round was determined by a poll on GQ’s Instagram stories.

In his press conference in Hangzhou, where he played an exhibition match with Alexander Zverev and the Bryan brothers, Federer laughed when admitting it. He added that his win was entirely due to his fans and not because he has an extraordinary fashion sense.

The 20-Grand Slam champion said: "I think it’s important to dress for the occasion, and I think tennis has a strong heritage when it comes to style and fashion, and we can mix that with street and on-court stuff. I try to have my own style, I guess, I try to stay very classic, but I also get modern. At the end of the day, it’s online voting and anything can happen."

The World No. 3 will open his 2020 season in Melbourne, playing the first Grand Slam of the year. The Basel native is also supposed to play the other three Majors and at least seven ATP tournaments this year.
