Watch: No accred, no entry for Rafa Nadal shortly before his QF showdown with Thiem!
Rafael Nadal's Australian Open journey came to an end on Wednesday, following a 6-7(3), 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-7(6) quarter-final defeat against 26-year-old Austrian fifth seed Dominic Thiem. However, the Spaniard acknowledged in the post-match press conference that Thiem deserved the triumph.
However, before the start of the match, a funny incident occurred with Nadal when a security guard denied him entrance and asked for the accreditation to be shown. There seemed to be a small conversation going on after which, Nadal was allowed to pass. The wide smile on his face added to the light-heartedness of the moment. The incident also reminded one of what had happened with Roger Federer at 2019 Australian Open.
The Swiss, like his Spanish rival, was asked for the accreditation and had to wait for one of his team members to show it to the security guard before being allowed further at the venue.
