Stefanos Tsitsipas admits to feeling nerves in Rotterdam opener

World No. 6 StefanosTsitsipas admitted he felt nerves early on in his Rotterdam opener but he was happy that he managed to find his rhythm and progress into the round-of-16.

Tsitsipas, seeded at No. 2, was facing an early exit but he came from a set down to beat rising Polish star Hubert Hurkacz 6-7 (2) 6-3 6-1 and clinch his first win in Rotterdam.

"The beginning of the match was quite unusual. I was quite nervous. I’ve never left here with a win… I just felt uncomfortable from the beginning,” Tsitsipas said, per the ATP Tour. “Then I found my way in the second set [and] got back on my feet. I think my fighting spirit made it work. I was just waiting for my moment."

Hurkacz, ranked at No. 29 in the world, blew threw consecutive set points on his serve in the 10th game but kept his focus as he won the tie-break to claim a tight opener.

After starting the second set with a 2-0 lead, Hurkacz' game fell apart as Tsitsipas won 12 of the next 13 games played to earn a comeback win.
