Apostolos Tsitsipas reflects on his relationship with Stefanos

Apostolos Tsitsipas has been training his son Stefanos since he was very young and has contributed a lot to the rise of the Greek tennis player. The 2019 ATP Finals winner has already reached a semifinal at the Australian Open and this year he won in Marseille for the second time in a row.

“Love doesn’t mean that we always have to go through success, titles and money. You know, these things are coming and going. Love is supposed to be something a little different. Maybe a bit more like, ‘I love you’. I like to be with you, to see you competing and enjoying the sport. Maybe this is the secret behind it" - Apostolos explained in a recent interview with Tennis TV.

Novak Djokovic also spoke about Tsitsipas' potential: “I love the fact that he is more than just tennis player and he's always looking to learn from the experience and to understand something new about himself so he can improve, get better. That for me is a trait of a champion, of someone that for sure has a great potential to be No. 1 of the world and win Grand Slams and be a great ambassador of our sport. He already is, but he has a great future ahead of him, I'm sure. He's young from the perspective of professional sport, but he's been around. He's very smart, very wise.

Parents, family members, the closest people in your life that have been there since day one are your greatest support. Of course, they want the best for you. I know both of his parents. They're nice people. They really care about him being the best tennis player he can be and also the best person he can be. I think they're doing a very good job.”
