Bernard Tomic: 'I'm yet to be tested for coronavirus but I have all the symptoms'

Coronavirus is a pandemic disease that has stolen the show in the last couple of months, both in everyday life and in the sport arenas. Breaking out in China, a coronavirus has spread worldwide and taken away many lives, especially in China and Italy, the second most-affected country so far. Back in February, a couple of events could have been canceled but we had seen them all, with some Davis Cup ties going on behind the closed door and with no spectators. Tennis suffered the most significant blow in March when the authorities and organizers canceled the opening two Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami, sending the players to their homes and forced break that will carry on at least until the last week of April on the men's Tour.

Bernard Tomic was one of the first players to announce the possible symptoms of a coronavirus, feeling sick last week and placing himself into self-isolation in Miami. World no. 200 had traveled from Monterrey (lost in the third round) to Miami and got sick, isolating himself just in case despite not yet being tested for a coronavirus. The struggling Aussie won only three matches this year and the one in the main draw came in Monterrey, his last tournament before the break caused by a coronavirus.

"I wasn't feeling right since Tuesday," Tomic said. "I already had shortness of breath and my immune system was low and ran down. I'm currently in Miami and isolated away from everyone, as advised. I'm yet to be tested for COVID-19 but I have all the symptoms. I reckon I got it while traveling from Mexico to Miami last week. People need to take this super seriously, especially at home in Australia. I don't know how long I'll be in isolation or when I can be tested."
