Robin Haase Offers His Services as a Babysitter to Families During the Shutdown

Tennis - Dutch tennis player Robin Haase says he is ready to offer his services as a babysitter to families who have to go to work during the next couple of weeks while the tennis tour shotdown continues.

Haase posted a video on his Instagram account offering his services. Speaking to the AD.nl website, Haase says, “Yesterday I received the first responses and tomorrow I will visit the first family in Naaldwijk. With two boys of about eight years old. Of course we all have to be careful. But tapping a ball and playing games should work."

Explaining his rationale, Haase says, "It is not that I am training every hour of the day. I have been home for three days now and this will take weeks, maybe months. Whether I train a little less for one or two weeks is not that important. I have plenty of time now. And there are people who are much worse off than I am. I am always helping. Love to be there for people, for others. And that can also be done in other ways than financially. ''

Meanwhile, speaking about the decision of the Roland Garros organizers to delay their tournament, Haase says he thought the French Federation has made a selfish choice without consulting other parties. "A very selfish choice. Especially in these times where communicating well together and acting together is so important, they now choose to sit on an island themselves. What other tournaments will be the victims of. Very unique, in my view. ''
