Sousa:We will return stronger e with renewed energy! Hope to see you again in Estoril
Portugese tennis player Joao Sousa, ranked No. 66 in the world, says he hopes to return stronger and with renewed energy once the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic is contained. The top-ranked Portugese player says he hopes to return to competition at the Estoril Open in six weeks time although it seems quite likely that the current 6 week suspension of the ATP Tour will be extended and may also impact the clay court season in Europe.
Posting on his Instagram account, Sousa says, “Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, which has been a global threat to all of us, the @atptour decided to suspend the world tennis season for 6 weeks. For all fans and lovers of the sport I know that it is not the best news but I believe that this is the best measure for the safety and well being of all. Health is our most precious asset and above all, we need to take care of it! With everyone's help and cooperation, we will return stronger and with renewed energy! I hope to see you again on our@estorilopen!! ❤️🇵🇹🎾 ”
Sousa has won three ATP World Tour singles titles and is regarded as the best Portuguese tennis player of all time.
