Blaz Rola, 29, reflects on decision to play college tennis in Ohio, turn pro in 2013

Slovenian tennis player Blaz Rola, 29, says he has zero regrets over playing college tennis before as he would do it all over again if he could choose.

The 29-year-old played college tennis at the Ohio State University before he turned professional in 2013.

The Slovenian enjoyed a successful college career as won the NCAA doubles championship in 2012 and the NCAA singles championship in 2013.

"It was a very good decision to go to college. I don’t know what would have happened to my tennis career, if I didn’t go to the United States. It was a life experience that I wouldn’t want to miss. I would make the same decision at any time,” Rola told the Slovenian Tennis Federation, as revealed on Tennis TourTalk.

After winning the 2013 NCAA singles championship, Rola said: "It’s unbelievable. The past champions who have won this tournament, John McEnroe, the Bryan brothers, for my name to be up there, it’s just overwhelming. It’s unbelievable and I’m really happy."

Rola's results were recognized at the Ohio State University as in 2013 he was named Ohio State Male Athlete of the Year.

Rola has never won an ATP title but still he has had a solid professional career.

The Slovenian has enjoyed more success on the lower-level tours as he is a four-time Challenger champion and a nine-time ITF champion.

Rola, ranked at No. 141 in the world, achieved a career-high ranking of No. 78 in the world in 2015.
