Cristian Garin: Jeremy Chardy doesn't like me and I don't know why

World No. 18 Cristian Garin claims France's Jeremy Chardy doesn't like him and he doesn't know a reason behind that.

Garin, 23, and 33-year-old Chardy have played against each other five times at the ATP level so far in their respective careers.

"Chardy doesn't like me and I don't know why," Garin said on Instagram Live, as revealed by Jose Morgado.

Garin met Chardy for the first time while he was still a teenager as their first meeting came in Vina del Mar seven years ago.

Then-the 16-year-old Garin was on the verge of pulling off a huge surprise win but fell just short as Chardy came from a set down to win 4-6 6-3 6-2.

A year later in 2014, the two met once again on the clay courts of Vina del Mar but this time the Frenchman won in two sets 7-5 6-0.

It took five years for the the two to meet again at the ATP level and the match didn't disappoint as Garin saved five match points to beat Chardy 3-6 7-6 (4) 7-6 (7) in the Houston round-of-16.

The two met two more times in 2019 and split wins in those two encounters though Chardy had a great chance to win each of the two matches.

Chardy beat Garin 6-4 6-4 in the Bastad round-of-16, before he blew three match points in their Paris Masters clash as the Chilean escaped with a 6-7 (4) 6-4 7-6 (6).

The two also met once on the Challenger Tour as Chardy beat Garin in the Aix en Provence first round in 2017.
