Matteo Berrettini's ideal player: Dominic Thiem or Stefanos Tsitsipas

Matteo Berrettini, one of the principal talents disclosed in 2019 on the ATP Tour, talked about the Next Gen players during an interview with beIN SPORTS.

In the video that the sports channel has shared on social media, the Italian compares the youngsters of the ATP Tour and admits that some are better than others. He even gave his idea of the ideal player.

"Among the young guys of the Next Gen, Tsitsipas is the most talented," Berrettini said. "He's an attacker. He likes to go to the net, he is quite precise with his service. He’s the youngest but also slightly the most talented. Zverev is younger than me, but he has already played finals and won the Masters 1000. Tennis has already brought him a lot and he has all the weapons of the new generation: service, backhand and good mobility despite his great height. They are all very complete players, but the ideal player in my opinion would be between Tsitsipas and Thiem."

But the Italian also admires players from outside the Next Gen. In an Instagram Live, he had admitted that "Roger [Federer] is tennis. He can do whatever he wants. It's so easy. He is my idol. And I can talk about him for two days. He makes it look like he born like that."

Berrettini recently turned 24 years old and is, as any other professional player, in shutdown at home because of the coronavirus pandemic. The ATP and WTA have extended the Tours suspention until July at least, but many insiders believe that the 2020 tennis season is still at risk beyond that date.
