Nishikori names his tough opponents outside Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Djokovic

Former world No. 4 Kei Nishikori has named his toughest opponents outside of the Big Three group.

The Japanese hasn't had much success against either Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer.

But there is a list of other players whom the 30-year-old considers as tough opponents.

Daniil Medvedev, who made nine finals last year, was one of the players Nishikori named, as well as the attractive Frenchman Gael Monfils.

Big-serving John Isner and Milos Raonic also made the list.

"Other than the Big Three, Medvedev is tough to play for me, he has a long reach and his shots have so many unusual spins, not top spins, but spins like back spins," Nishikori said in one of his live videos, as revealed by Seiadoumogera/Twitter.

"Big servers like Isner and Raonic (are tough to play for me). Raonic also has good strokes.

"Monfils is also tough to play, he is the most athletic player in the Tour."

Also, Nishikori revealed that Grigor Dimitrov was the easiest player to doubles with.

Nishikori and Dimitrov teamed up twice as they played doubles together at the Brisbane International in 2013 and 2016.

On both occasions, the two made the semifinal before giving a walkover.

"Dimi, Dimitrov. With him, I'm sure we can be a very strong pair. I've played with him, he is a good doubles player, he is strong in singles for sure," Nishikori claimed.

But both Nishikori and Dimitrov are completely focused on their singles careers.
