Noah Rubin: Many tennis professionals don't know how to live life without tennis

USA's Noah Rubin says it's tough to see the Tour being suspended as he fears some professional players "don't know how to live life without tennis."

On March 12, the ATP initially suspended the Tour for six weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak. 

Shortly after, the ATP extended the Tour suspension through to June 7. 

Then on April 1, Wimbledon was cancelled as the ATP further extended the Tour suspension until at least July 13.

“It happened so quickly,” Rubin told Tennis TourTalk. "Tennis has been unusually at the forefront of the situation, which has never happened before.

"We always complain about how long the seasons are – we rarely have the ability to take a break – but many of my fellow professional players don’t really know how to live life without tennis. … We haven’t had an opportunity to take time off without feeling the anxiety that we’re missing out. 

"It’s important for these players to take some time and say, ‘Hey, let’s get this body to a point where we have no aches and pains."

Rubin, ranked at No. 224 in the world, appeared in the main draw of four events this year. 

The American started the season with three consecutive losses but his form appeared to be on the rise just before the Tour was suspended. 

Rubin, a former world No. 125, made the Delray Beach Open as a qualifier in his first ATP event of the season. 

The American then backed up his solid Delray Beach showing with a quarterfinal result at the Indian Wells Challenger.
