Struff Hopes Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal e Djokovic Can Help Tennis Community

German tennis player Jan-Lennard Struff says he hopes that the Big Three in men's tennis - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic - can help players and others struggling in the tennis community as well as they have helped others through their charitable efforts.

Speaking to Spiegel, the 29 year old Struff says, "Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have already donated huge sums. Amazing. Money goes for different purposes. But donations are needed that go directly to tennis. For example, players could support their former clubs. Or former coaches, some of them are now without work. Better let them help a tennis player also. Everyone can make a contribution."

Last week, Struff had said that he had received special permission from his regional sports association in North Rhine-Westphalia last week to resume training by keeping certain guidelines in place. It is similar to the measures brought in for German footballers, who can now train in groups of five.

Struff commented, "I can understand that such exemptions for athletes are viewed critically by the rest of the population in the current situation, but it's also my job and we have strict requirements."

Struff is currently ranked No. 34 in the world and had initially stopped playing due to the crisis. After the special permit, he says he can now train two to three times a week with coach Carsten Arriens while following the policy on social distancing.

The German says he is also looking at his plans post his tennis career and hopes to remain involved in tennis in some aspect.
