Novak Djokovic announces Alexander Zverev has accepted invitation to play Adria Tour
World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has announced that top-ranked German Alexander Zverev has signed up to play the Adria Tour.
Last week, Djokovic announced his plans to host the Adria Tour in the upcoming period and that the Tour would feature some of the biggest names of the game.
This year's Australian Open runner-up Dominic Thiem and former world No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov were the first big names confirmed for the Adria Tour.
Zverev, the 2018 Nitto ATP Finals champion, was also invited and 17-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic was happy that the German accepted the invitation.
The Adria Tour will place across four Balkan countries -- Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia and Montenegro.
Zverev, ranked at No. 7 in the world, will play in Djokovic's hometown Belgrade and also appear in Croatia.
"Great news, Sascha Zverev is coming. Three big stars (have confirmed the participation). I'm really grateful to them and I'm happy that I will be able to host them in my hometown. They are coming here for free because of their relationship with me and because of the charity nature of the Tour. All three of them will play in Belgrade. Thiem only here (in Belgrade), Zverev also in Croatia, while Dimitrov will also play in Croatia and Montenegro," Djokovic said, per Sport Klub.
Zverev, a former world No. 3, made a fine start to the season as he made his maiden Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open, before losing to his good friend Thiem in a tight four-set battle.
