Novak Djokovic explains how he survives in pressure situations

When we talk about Novak Djokovic we are certainly dealing with one of the greatest legends in the world of tennis. The Serbian champion has achieved great results in his career, has won 17 Grand Slam titles in his career and is in constant pursuit of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, still at 20 and 19 titles respectively.

Some observers, tennis players and coaches describe Djokovic as the greatest of all time because he won the trophies with victories against the top players and the biggest rivals in one of the strongest eras of tennis. Currently, Djokovic leads the head-to-head record against all members of the Big Four and he has highest number of Slams won beating Big Four member en route.

Furthermore, he won on average higher-ranked players on the way to the Grand Slam trophies then Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Pat Cash emphasized that Djokovic is one of two players who beat Rafael Nadal at the French Open, which he considers to be "the biggest challenge in tennis".

In a recent interview, the World number 1 explained how he survives in pressure situations. “Consciously breathing first that’s probably the simplest thing that you can do but probably the most effective,” he told on ‘In-Depth with Graham Bensinger’. “I think the experience of being in these situations so many times before, in my career, helps me every next time that I have to face adversity and the distractions, and my thoughts, what-ifs, and fears,” he added.

“I practice a lot of mindfulness. Meditation, journaling, talking with my team, my parents my wife. Trying to address certain emotional issues or traumas with my life coaches, spiritual guides. When I’m facing a match point or breakpoint, they do tend to surface but I manage to gain control over them much quicker,” the 17-time Grand Slam champion.
