US Open 2020 confirmed from August 24 to September 13. But is it true? A decision came after the last few weeks of rumors related to the tournament, after ATP, WTA and ITF suspended tennis until July 31, 2020. United States is being hit hard by the Covid-19 global pandemic, which is upsetting the whole season. 

A facebook page confirms the event on official dates, but there are many doubts about the reliability of the news, despite the fact that the page uses the registered trademark of the US Open. What would happen if the event were officially confirmed.

In recent weeks there has been talk of both a possible date change and a possible change of location (someone talked about the Indian Wells Tennis Garden). Instead, the New York Slam will be held on the pre-established dates and in the pre-established location, the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. During the health emergency, part of the Flushing Meadows facilities was used as a field hospital to treat Coronavirus patients.

The decision was made both because the trend of the pandemic in the metropolis is gradually receding, and to ensure that the tournament does not fall into a spiral of economic problems, as the US Open does not have an insurance that protects it from these emergencies, such as that signed by Wimbledon in 2003.

In recent days the director of Roland Garros said he was confident of the presence of the crowd on the courts of Bois de Boulogne, with obvious precautions. as far as the US Open is concerned, it is still to be decided whether to allow a part of the crowd to enter the stands, also in this case with all the necessary precautions.

A very delicate decision, considering what is happening with the pandemic in New York. But in the meantime a decision was made: the US Open will be played on the set dates and all of us could finally come back to enjoy high level tennis.
