Auger-Aliassime recalls personal experience when cops racially profiled his father
Rising Canadian star Felix Auger Aliassime has spoken about his own personal experience with racism after the current protests of the United States related to racial discrimination.
Auger-Aliassime posted a video on Instagram where he spoke about his father being racially profiled by a police officer in Quebec City, even as protests continue across the United States and Canada, after the death of George Floyd – an unarmed black man who was killed by a Minneapolis police officer.
The world No. 20 was raised in Quebec City by his French-Canadian mother and his father from Togo. He recalls an incident in the video about his father being stopped and questioned by a Quebec City police officer while driving an expensive car.
“We always think it might happen in other neighbourhoods and other places. That’s not true. There’s different types of racism."
Here is the video he posted on his social media account where he talks about the incident.
