Dominic Thiem tests negative three times within seven days

Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem has tested negative for the coronavirus for the third time within seven days, his agent told APA.

Thiem, ranked at No. 1 in the world, participated at the Adria Tour event in Belgrade -- which took place on June 13-14.

The Austrian was playing the best tennis throughout the whole weekend in Belgrade and ended up winning the title after beating Serb Filip Krajinovic in the final.

Before the Adria Tour event in Belgrade, it was announced that Thiem had signed up to play the Ultimate Tennis Showdown.

But the Austrian missed the first weekend of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown because of his commitment to the Adria Tour event in Belgrade.

On Monday June 15 -- a day after wining it all in Belgrade -- Thiem returned to Austria, where he tested negative for the coronavirus.    Upon arriving to the Mouratoglou Academy for the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, the Austrian was tested for the coronavirus once again and once again his tests came back as negative.

This Monday, the 26-year-old returned to Austria -- where he was tested for the third time and the results showed he was coronavirus negative.

On Sunday, Grigor Dimitrov announced he had tested positive for the coronavirus -- a day after playing against Borna Coric at the Adria Tour event in Zadar.

Coric, ranked at No. 33 in the world, also announced on Monday morning that his tests came back as positive.

Dimitrov also participated at the Adria Tour event in Belgrade -- the event that was won by Thiem.

Dominic Thiem makes a solid start to the Ultimate Tennis Showdown

This year's Australian Open runner-up Thiem played two matches this past weekend at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown.

The Austrian picked up a surprise loss to home favorite Richard Gasquet in his opener at the tournament as the Frenchman won 16-10 15-12 16-12 14-17.

But Thiem performed much better in his second match as he defeated world No. 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas 15-12 11-13 16-13 14-13.

Thiem has now returned to Austria as he is planning to finish his campaign at the Austrian Pro Series.

Thiem returned to competitive action at the end of May at the Austrian Pro Series and since then he has played seven matches at the tournament.

Dominic Thiem won his first matches at the Austrian Pro Series, before he surprisingly lost to Sebastian Ofner.
