Guy Forget predicts Federer, Nadal e Djokovic will still be on top when tour resumes

Guy Forget, the Tournament Director of Roland Garros, says he expects the players with more experience, such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, to remain on top once the tennis circuit resumes.

The former World No. 4 Forget was speaking with Mats Wilander and Justine Henin on the latest edition of Tennis Legends. The Frenchman commented, "I'm pretty confident some tournaments will happen before Roland-Garros and I think that's for the good of the game and the good of the players. When the Tour starts again, I think the players with more experience will still be on top. When you're a younger player, you need to put those four, five hours a day and to get some of the rhythm matches. I think that Roger Federer, Nadal or Djokovic with little less practice, they can rely on their experience and they can still be there on the big moments.

Forget added that the Top 3 are still playing at the top of their game even after so many years on the tour. "I think they've been so good last year and the first part of the season. Novak has been unbelievable. Roger is just playing - when he's fit - I mean, his best tennis and Rafa, he seems like he's a junior walking out on every court anywhere in the world like, you know, he's so happy to be here.”

The tennis circuit was suspended in early March and currently all tournaments have been suspended or cancelled till the end of July. The ATP and other governing bodies of tennis are expected to announce in the next couple of weeks about the status of events in August. The French Open is expected to take place at the end of September and Forget and other French tennis officials are confident of the event being held later this year. They have said they will also look for government guidance on whether fans will be permitted at the tournament.

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are considered among the best tennis players in the history of the sport. Federer has won a record 20 Grand Slam singles titles - the most by any player in the history of the men's game, followed by Rafael Nadal with 19 Slams and Novak Djokovic with 17 Slams.
