Marin Cilic: I have tested negative for second time

Croatian tennis star Marin Cilic for the second time has tested negative for the coronavirus as he continues to self quarantine and consult with medical professionals.

Cilic, ranked at No. 37 in the world, participated at the Adria Tour event in Zadar last week. 

A total of four players who participated at the Adria Tour have tested positive for the coronavirus.

"After a second COVID-19 test, I am happy to share that my results are once again Negative. I will complete my 14 day isolation and continue to consult with medical professionals. Thanks to all for the positive messages. Wishing a speedy recovery to all impacted," Cilic said in a Twitter post.

Last Sunday, 2017 Nitto ATP Finals champion Grigor Dimitrov announced just before the final of the Adria Tour final in Zadar that he tested positive for the coronavirus.

The organizers made the right decision and decided to cancel the final and the same night all the players who participated -- except Novak Djokovic -- were tested. 

The following day, 2014 US Open champion Cilic announced his tests came back as negative. 

"After the events that took place in Zadar over the weekend and the interruption of the Adria Tour, I would like to inform you that I did a test for the COVID-19 virus as soon as possible and that my results were negative," Cilic said in a statement on Monday.

On Monday, the tests of two-time ATP champion Borna Coric and former world No. 12 Viktor Troicki came back as negative.

On Tuesday, 17-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic announced he and his wife tested positive for the coronavirus, while their kids were negative.

Marin Cilic didn't impress in front of his home fans 

Cilic, 31, failed to clinch a single win in Zadar as he lost each of his three matches played at the Adria Tour.

The Croatian kicked off his campaign in Zadar against rising Russian star Andrey Rublev, who beat him in three sets. 

Next up for Cilic was world No. 7 Alexander Zverev, who also claimed a three-set win over the Croatian. 

After losing his first two group matches, the 31-year-old Croatian was left without chances to make it past the group and qualify for the final. 

Marin Cilic didn't perform particularly in his last match played as he suffered a surprise loss against Serbian tennis player Danilo Petrovic.
