Tangibles causing Bianca Andreescu to withdraw from Credit One event

     "I actually didn't think tennis would come back so soon..." Bianca Andreescu, the WTA's 6th ranked player of the world said as a comment for her withdrawal from the Credit One Bank event. The spunky Canadian hasn't played competitively since last year in October when she suffered a left knee injury at the WTA Finals in Shenzhen, China. It's been one thing after another since her injury. It has caused her to miss the Australian Open this January as she recuperated. It was a month later that she wasn't able to participate in the Canadian Fed Cup. Weeks afterward she had to bow out of the Dubai event and then this March, the coronavirus pandemic struck, ending mostly all tournaments.

     When the Credit One Bank exhibition in Charleston, South Carolina was presented, for Andreescu it was very promising to enter. But her team thought otherwise saying "After carefully, deliberating with her team, Bianca decided that playing the exhibition was a bit premature..." There are a few situations that could cause Andreescu to reconsider ther participation in any tournament at this time. Firstly, she and other players are weary of the pandemic outbreak and the safety for not only her team but herself and other players. She has seen what has gone down with the Adria Tour of which the No. 1 ATP player in the world Novak Djokovic has founded. It probably has been not only surprising but alarming of what the virus outbreak under flexible conditions can cause. "I can't stress enough that the health and safety of not only the players, but of all those involved in making tennis happen again this season..." Bianca has emphasized.

     The young Canadian and grand slam winner doesn't want to rush her comeback from the knee injury which left her disabled since October. She would prefer a complete recovery and slow down rather than to have a setback rushing her return. She says her preference would be to train at home with her team and get ready for a complete tour return. Andreescu acknowledged her excitement at getting onto the competitive court. "...I plan to make the most of the opportunity to get back on the court, reconnect with players and friends..."

     It's been only a year that Bianca Andreescu has made a significant achievement in the women's professional tour.

She won her first WTA title at Indian Wells and months later was awarded the Rogers Cup in her home country of Canada. It was her opponent Serena Williams who was unable to continue due to injuries and retired from the final. Months later she'd meet up with Williams again to capture her first grand slam, the U.S. Open title. The memory of winning her slam title is vivid and she says that "The U.S. Open will always hold a very special place in my heart. Arthur Ashe is where I won my first grand slam title..." Andreescu desperately wants to defend her title and be physically and emotionally healthy to participate at the New York premier tournament.

     These are the tangibles that have caused Bianca Andreescu to withdraw from the Credit One Bank exhibition. She will continue to train and be more than ready for the next tournament hopefully if the world health conditions have improved greatly. The Canadian will eagerly enter the competition again if her health has completely felt improved and ready for her to play. It's her desire to get back to competing again and wishes that it will be much sooner than later when she returns to the profession that she's extremely passionate to continue and do well in again.
