2020 memories: Caroline Wozniacki said goodbay to tennis!

In one of the most incredible, particular and dramatic seasons ever, the great tennis stars like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams still managed to shine, for one reason or another.

On 6 December 2019, Caroline Wozniacki announced through her social media profiles that she would retire from pro after the 2020 Australian Open. In Melbourne, after easily getting rid of Kristie Ahn 6-1 6-3, she defeated the Ukrainian Dajana Jastremska, only to surrender to Ons Jabeur in the third round for 5-7 6-3 5-7. At the end of the battle Wozniacki thanked the crowd and a celebratory video was shown of several of her colleagues who give her a last farewell and congratulate her on her career.

Although it was the last match played in the WTA Tour, the tennis player will allow herself an exhibition match at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen against Serena Williams, following which she will definitively retire from professional tennis. The event, originally scheduled for May 18, 2020, has been postponed to a later date due to the 2019-2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
