2020 memories: Novak Djokovic won the Australian Open

In one of the most incredible, particular and dramatic seasons ever, the great tennis stars like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams still managed to shine, for one reason or another.

At the Australian Open 2020 Novak Djokovic won his 17th Major, his 8th title in Melbounre. At the debut Nole defeated Jan-Lennard Struff, in four sets. In the next two rounds he beat Tatsuma Ito, Yoshihito Nishioka, Diego Schwartzman and Milos Raonic. In the semifinal he overtook Roger Federer, in three sets, bringing the number of victories against the Swiss champion to 27. In the final Djokovic triumphed against Dominic Thiem, recovering a disadvantage of two sets to one (6-4, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4).

Novak Djokovic thus became the first tennis player in the open era to win at least one Grand Slam in three different decades (2000-2010-2020) and, thanks to the title in Australia, regain the primacy in the world rankings, bypassing Rafael Nadal.
