ATP 500 Vienna: Andrey Rublev got the Austrian final
Andrey Rublev took advantage of Kevin Anderson's retirement and he reached the final at the at 500 in Vienna. Thus reaching his 5th final of his amazing season. The Russian, who remained the highest seeded in the draw, after the eliminations of Djokovic, Thiem, Tsitsipas and Medvedev, had closed the first fraction 6-4 in his favor, breaking the balance that lasted from the beginning of the set until to 4-4.
In the ninth game the decisive break is that of seeded number eight who maintains the advantage and wins the set. In the second half, Rublev flies to 3-0, probably taking advantage of Anderson's physical problems that will force him to retire shortly after when the score was 4-1 in favor of Rublev.
The Russian will arrive at the final quite rested if you consider that the South African is the second retreat that Rublev benefits from. Already during the round of 16, in fact, after only three games it was Jannik Sinner who raised the white flag and made the tournament, hitherto flawless by Andrey Rublev, less tiring.
Get better soon, @KAndersonATP 🙏 Anderson's retirement means Andrey Rublev is through to his fifth final of 2020 🙌 pic.twitter.com/vNUIJz4OzB
