Roger Federer: 'I’m definitely not stepping away off the game right now'

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have won 40 Grand Slam titles together. With the success in the last edition of Roland Garros, the Spaniard has reached the Swiss at 20 at the top of the special ranking of tennis players who have won the most 4 major tournaments in the world. This is perhaps the photograph of the greatness of two players who have written a page in the history of sport that has already become eternal. An exceptional rivalry, a confrontation between two different but parallel worlds that has divided but at the same time united the fans, giving emotions and entertainment, without ever ignoring an attitude that is anything but obvious, namely respect towards the opponent. The dualism between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal has never been just a question of results. The two tennis giants (don't want the third "musketeer" Novak Djokovic) have shown how you can practice and live the same sport in a very different way. Roger Federer was a sort of predestined of the racket: after removing some "excesses" of character at a very young age, the 1981 class blossomed on the tennis courts as the most "beautiful" of flowers. Square, stylistically perfect both in the technical gesture and in the look (with that "revolutionary" tail that quickly disappeared), complete and winning. Technique and talent, physicality and ability to "embroidery", perfectly at ease on the grass of Wimbledon considered his "backyard". Some fans are even wondering whether Federer will be able to continue playing after the Grand Slam. However, the Swiss maestro has other plans and in a recent live-chat, he simply dismissed the retirement rumors.

Roger Federer on his return

“I am still fighting for my come back, I want to be back on the tennis court. I would love to play with the legends of the game and the best players. And I feel maybe there is a little more that is left in me,” said an enthusiastic Roger Federer during the live-chat. “I’m definitely not stepping away off the game right now. But it’s fun to be an entrepreneur, philanthropist, tennis player, and all this stuff. But, No, I am not retiring anytime sooner,” concluded the 20-time Grand Slam champion. Federer last came close to winning a Slam in Wimbledon 2019 against Novak Djokovic. The marathon final saw Federer squander two championship points which would have capped of a brilliant Wimbledon run.
