'Roger Federer is the most impressive because of his style', says ATP star

The curtain falls on tennis 2020, and Novak Djokovic closes the year always as number one. In fact, the world top ten does not change even after the ATP Finals, which define the ranking as the 'end year': the leader is still the Serbian, back in command after his eighth triumph in Melbourne last January. For Djokovic this is the 296th week overall as number one: leaving Pete Sampras behind in the special all-time ranking, his declared goal is the record of Roger Federer, leader with 310 weeks at the top. Nole is now 2180 points ahead of Rafael Nadal, in turn followed by 725 points by Austrian Dominic Thiem. Fourth the Russian Daniil Medvedev who, fresh winner of the Masters, is almost two thousand points behind Roger Federer (expected to return in 2021 after the double surgery on his right knee). Confirmations for the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in sixth place, then in order for the German Alexander Zverev, the Russian Andrey Rublev, the only winner of five titles this year, and the Argentine Diego Schwartzman. Italy closes the top ten with Matteo Berrettini, tenth with 215 points ahead of Gael Monfils. And there are a total of eight blues in the top 100 of the ranking: Fabio Fognini stable at 17th place, Lorenzo Sonego at number 33. Jannik Sinner confirms his 37th position thanks to the title won in Sofia ten days ago. According to French star Gilles Simon, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic isn't as diplomatic as Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal.

Gilles Simon on the Big 3's skills

Gilles Simon revealed that Rafael Nadal is his favorite player. However, the Frenchman reckons that Novak Djokovic is the best player in the Big 3 while Roger Federer is the ‘most impressive'. “My favorite player is Rafa," Simon said. "I think Novak is the strongest and Federer is certainly the most impressive because of his style," Simon commented. Simon also revealed the Big 3 allegiances of his family members. He mentioned a rather interesting anecdote involving his son, who switched camps from being a Rafael Nadal fan to a Roger Federer supporter after the 2017 Australian Open final. “My wife has always been a big Nadal fan, and of course, my sons became like her too,” Simon said. "Then - in 2017 - Federer defeated Nadal in five sets in the final of the Australian Open. My son Timothée was angry we talked him into supporting Nadal when Federer was better! Since then, Roger has been Timothée's hero - no one can hold a candle to him," revealed Simon.
