2020 memories: Rafael Nadal got Federer's Slam record winning Paris
In one of the most incredible, particular and dramatic seasons ever, the great tennis stars like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams still managed to shine, for one reason or another.
For the first time in his career, Rafael Nadal participated a the Roland Garros without having won any title on clay-courts. In the first round of the Parisian Slam Rafa overtook Jahor Herasimau for 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 and in the second round Mackenzie McDonald for 6-1, 6-0, 6-3. In the third round the Spaniard eliminated Stefano Travaglia 6-1, 6-4, 6-0 and in the fourth round Sebastian Korda with a score of 6-1, 6-1, 6-2. In the quarter-finals Nadal defeated Jannik Sinner 7-6 (4), 6-4, 6-1.
In the semifinal he avenged the defeat suffered in Rome by Diego Schwartzman by eliminating him with a score of 6-3, 6-3, 7-6. In his thirteenth final in Paris, on 11 October, he beats world number 1 Novak Dokovic by a score of 6-0, 6-2, 7-5, winning his 13th Roland Garros, for the fourth time without lose no set.
Thanks to this success, Rafael Nadal equaled the record of 20 Grand Slam tournaments won in his career, previously held alone by Federer, and became the 5th tennis player in history after Margaret Smith Court, Steffi Graf, Serena Williams and Roger Federer to win at least 20 Grand Slam titles in singles and the 3rd tennis player in history after Ken Rosewall and Dokovic to win a Grand Slam in 3 different decades: 2000-2010-2020.
